**aenea** darling, are you willing to sell any equipment that anyone wants to send to you? This might be the answer to the OTHER problem, too…the one where I am not sure how to decide which of the monitors to give to **Polycarp**. Because if everyone just sent their monitors to YOU, you could decide which one to give him, and which ones to sell. I know that is a lot to ask, so if you don’t have the time, please forget I asked. Thankyou all for all the work and all the info so the rest of us can pitch in. Could someone who knows Polycarp please give a brief bio. Nothing too personal about him, maybe just an overall description of him as he appears to us here at the SD. I have very briefly interacted with him on a couple topics and would just like to know more about him. I will be making use of the paypal option on Monday myself. ---

Here’s a very brief bio: he is as strong an argument for the existence of God as I have ever seen. And he is valued far more by his friends (some of whom he sadly doesn’t know about, but only because they admire from afar and are too shy to say hello) than I think he is comfortable admitting … or then again, that might just be his humility. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen him lose his temper on this board. He’s class behind a computer screen (and in its absence), and meeting him in person (and introducing him to my then-girlfriend and now fiancée) is a feeling I will cherish as long as I can feel. Get to know him as well as is reasonably possible without stalking him. People of **Poly** ’s value come around once every blue moon on the 33rd of May. ---

WELL… I am having trouble processing this, simply because as much as I know how wonderful you all are, and I DO know that…almost everyone here has always been SO good to me…and some of you have become some of my best friends…I cherish you. STILL…this is astounding. The thing is, we now have approximately $1300.00 contributed to the Polycarp Appreciation Fund. And that isn’t counting the people who are choosing to send their contributions by snail mail, either. You all ROCK, and I am in shock. And for the first time lately, this is a GOOD kind of shock. May God Bless your kind and generous hearts. I know _I_ am blessing them. ---

My **Poly** contribution’s on the way, **Scotti**. I also have a spare monitor that I’d be delighted to give **Poly** but frankly it’s in pretty bad shape. He’s more than welcome to it–I’ll ship it to him directly, if that’d help–but I suspect others may be able to come up with something more usable for him. It’d be better than nothing, though, so if it’s needed, please just e-mail me. Glad, so glad the Dopers have come through for **Poly**. How in this world or the next can anyone possibly express how absolutely wonderful people like all of you are!?!? **Tygr** and **Jkayla** came and picked up Barb and me, and brought us to the _Tygr Den_ for a visit, and so that I could see this thread. (That was rather difficult to do, what with all the water that kept forming between my eyes and the monitor…) And to respond to it – i.e., this post. One of the key points of my theology has always been that when God wants to work a miracle, he does it not by some flashy signs and wonders, but through the warm and loving hearts of people who care. We have been the recipients of a true miracle, and all of you have been the agents of it, whether you believe in such things or not – no mysticism in that, just the fact that two days ago we were facing the likelihood of losing everything in the near future, a car being a necessity to even find a job and our financial resources nearing depletion. And now I am flabbergasted at the truly amazing response that your love and generosity has made, and Barb and I just cannot think of what you all are doing without happy tears. May every one of you have a Christmas and a rest of your life that is as joyous as you have made the two of us! I am grateful for every bit of encouragement, prayers, and good thoughts that each of you has sent our way. Especially the great and wonderful efforts of **Scotti, Aenea, RT** , and **CJ** – and two couples who have made special contributions to us (one of whom contacted us and the other passed word through **CJ** ) and who I think want to remain anonymous as far as public knowledge of what they’re doing goes. But _we_ know the goodness in your hearts – and you know who you are that that special thanks goes to. 🙂 I really ought to take the time to thank every single one of you individually, but I do not feel right about tying up **Tygr** ’s computer long enough to compose that long a post. So let me just say that I am blessed to be part of a community that can show this much love and support to anyone – and blessed beyond description to be the person who is the recipient of it. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart” is inadequate to express how I feel, but it will have to do until we are all telepathic and Î can let you know truly how deeply I feel love for and gratitude to you all.
