Thanks in part to a wonderful burst of generosity to someone who’s proven his worth to the boards, 7,000 times over in fact, Polycarp has hit another milestone. Let’s hear it for him! Poly, you don’t know how many times **Hamish** and I have been glum about the state of the world, how everything has looked depressing and unpleasant, and we’ve been forced to concede - “Well, of course there’s Polycarp.” Thank you for being a great big counterexample against the unpleasantness of the universe. 🙂 _hug_ ---

**Polycarp** is always a voice of reason and compassion. He makes this message board a better place. not to mention the planet. We all know **Poly’s** a saint. The Pope really needs to get off the stick and make it official. ---

Forget the Catholics – they’re way too rigid and **Polycarp** isn’t one. The Episcopal Church, however, does have a history of recognizing good, honest people who do great things, even thought they think it’s no more than God requires of them at the time. If **Polycarp** doesn’t fit that description, I don’t know who does. So, anyone got the Archbishop of Canterbury’s e-mail address? Come to think of it . . . . Meeting **Polycarp** back in August and seeing him again this past October was a joy I don’t think the English language is capable of expressing. And I’m _very_ sure the smiley language can’t do much better than this: :):D:p He is, in a word, agape. In two words, filia. In three words, agape _and_ filia;) ---

I hate post parties. With a passion. On the other hand, **Polycarp** is a unique poster. I wish I had his patience, tolerance and grasp of reasoned, lucid writing. He’s one of a small number of people I’ve never met who I genuinely respect. ---

So many people bring up religion. And I can understand that. But he’s a stand up guy even when you discount his religious views. And that’s worth gold. ---

**Polycarp** ’s a kind, patient man with a good sense of humor. When he Pitted someone a while back, a good number of the posts in the thread were expressing utter shock that **Poly** had actually done this and questioning if the world was about to end - and then most of them heartily agreed with his position. It’s not often that someone even starting a Pit thread could generate shock, but his posts are typically worded very gracefully and kindly, and contain if not wisdom then understanding or compassion. He is a true asset to the board. Oh, and I really don’t like post parties either, but I’ll break my preference for him. ---

I’m speechless. I don’t “do” taking praise very well, but **Matt** and everybody – thanks! I really do not deserve the praise and adulation that get heaped on me here – much less the gifts that came last month and this from a wide number of you. (I’m working on getting thank you notes out to everybody who didn’t insist on remaining anonymous – and the rest of you, you have no idea what a lifesaver you collectively were!) Now, if somebody will point me to a hat shop, my current one has gotten a little tight for some reason… 😉 ---
