He was my first concert in 1994, his Greatest Hits was the first CD I owned, I pretty much wore out a live album cassette tape of his and I now own a few of his albums on vinyl. Yet he is one rock star I would never be able to pick out in a crowd. I wouldn’t recognize him in pictures of his younger self and I sure was surprised to see what he looked like in that video clip. I have no idea how I could like a guy’s music so much and still have no clue what he looks like. But yeah, there’s a bit of Springer in his face. ---

1:37 is the time mark for the “Pompatus” part. I never thought about, but your right, I never would have picked him out in a line-up. I saw him in concert once in the mid-80s. ---

I heard a story once that back when he did regular tours, before the show he’d take a 10-speed bike and ride around the parking lot of the stadium, checking out the people tailgating and sometimes hanging out with them. He never got recognized. ---
