What everybody else said. I wear my hair like this every day: I like to get exercise in while I’m at work, and my hair is already up out of the way. The band has to be tight, and it’s best to use a ponytail holder especially designed for the job. I tend to pull hair out if I use anything else, like a rubber band.
I have thick but very fine and slippery hair. I put my hair up with a tight band and usually put a small scrunchie over it because I like how they look, but a scrunchie alone wouldn’t keep my hair back for more than about thirty seconds.
And it doesn’t matter what I do about the shorter bits on the sides, they end up falling out no matter what I do. I just shove what I can behind my ears. This problem is improving as my hair gets longer, but it’s winter and I swear it’s growing slower. Bobby pins, when I put them in, tend to slide right out, so I don’t bother.
The higher a ponytaill gets, the ‘hotter’ it gets.

This may be the oddest question I’ve ever read on the board.
A high or back of the head pony tail is what happens to my hair when I’m having a horrible hair day, or I’m in a hurry, or have otherwise have no interest in doing anything with my hair. It is the lowest hair maintenance option I have.
It never occured to me that it might take instructions.
I need to learn how to do a French braid. I see that HOW TO VIDEO link has a video for it…gonna watch and take notes…
