From various “news” sources, Boston is suffering from such more terrible winter weather than the rest of us in the Northern Hemisphere. So much so that their very existence is at stake. Don’t get me wrong - I love the place but: I am so sick of hearing about Boston this, Boston that… “Yada yada, yawn. Snow! Some more snow! OMG!” I’m sure you all there are coping just fine like the rest of us northern USA and Canadian counterparts, but the media is portraying you as a bunch of whiners. Just sayin’. The next time some Weather Channel TV Jockey comes on live in downtown Boston describing your snowbanks and such - please, someone stroll by and kick his ass. (Pitting the media, not you Bostonians. I have gone through this nonsense during hurricane season myself.) ---

What with all the weather angst in New England, I was surprised to find that in the middle of this time of Doom, there was a pretty hefty snowfall in [some medium-sized Midwestern city](http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/02/02/chicago-blizzard-2015-time-lapse-video/) - but since it wasn’t in the Northeast, didn’t qualify for much attention. I do feel sorry for coastal New Englanders, even the friend of ours who went on Facebook to say that “global warming deniers” should come shovel out her driveway (on getting negative feedback, she hastened to change that to “climate change deniers”). You see, an unusually cold and snowy winter automatically proves the existence of climate change _or_ refutes it, especially if you’re an idiot. ---

So glad you aren’t frozen stiff bodies lying in the ditch next to the exit on the interstate, just yards from the next Dennys or Cracker Barrel. We here across Lake Michigan are just fine also. Just another winter. The rest of you winter refugees (according to the Weather “SpreadTheHysteria” Channel) are gonna die a slow and cold, freezing death. And BostonBakedBeans cooked properly in an iron pot over a fire is wonderful. Can I come over tonight to sample?. I’ll chop some firewood for you for that treat. 🆒 ---

I saw a mammoth this morning but my fingers were so cold I couldn’t shoot it. Maybe in 10,000 more years I will be able to get a good shot at it. ---

The local TV people here in Orlando are a scream - all this scaremongering, reporters out in the street with parkas and scarves and wool hats, warning people to take care of their plants and pets, don’t make the kids wait outside for the school bus, because _it’s almost freezing!_ I’m literally ROFL. I wore a long-sleeved shirt but only because I’m still acclimating - that’s short-sleeve weather up north. All right, in fairness, there IS going to be frost in north Florida and the citrus farmers have some prep work to do, but that’s their problem and they’re used to it. Ask me again in July, but so far I’m not missing Boston at all. I can even go to more Red Sox games now, with only a slightly longer drive to St. Pete than I used to have to Fenway. ---

That is Human Adaption at its’ best. - Move south to warmer weather. - Wear a scarf, shorts, sandals. etc. whenever temperatures dip below 60F. - Taunt people that are bundled, layered in wool blends, fingers and toes that are numb. (My daughters in Houston do this to me constantly). 😃 ---
