Poorly describe a movie plot as a Reddit AITA

I work for a large multinational conglomerate. They are into everything, dozens of unrelated industries. I’m basically a security guard watching the back door at one of their plants. Not very exciting, but my coworker is something to look at.

One day I overheard her talking about bringing down the company for it’s secret government projects that are dangerously illegal. I thought, maybe I can help with that and she’ll be really grateful, and I bet we can make a ton of money one the side.

So I snuck into the top secret manufacturing side (apparently I know all about it even though I work security at the back door), nabbed a little of the lucrative products, and left a little mess behind to hide my tracks. I figured it would take them forever to sort out what went wrong, and by then me and my partner would be long gone.

Except I didn’t count on the faculty having a security failsafe - knockout has that causes short term amnesia.

Now I find that me and my partner and a couple others are surrounded, and everyone wants a piece of us. There’s only one way out, and that means somebody has got to die, but it won’t be me. AITA?

Not if he is as charming as Cary Grant. (if I have the right film?)

OTOH, I have no idea about these.

Yes, it’s the right film.

I give your behavior my stamp of approval

In another life I made money the old-fashioned way (if that is enough of a clue to let you chase down the answer)

Oh yes indeed! And I used the Socratic Method!

Yes, YTA, many have already died because of your ‘little mess’, the trouble is, they didn’t stay dead.

:+1:

It covers such a diversity of businesses, some might even call it an umbrella corporation.

Well technically I didn’t kill any of them. It was that homicidal crazy lady in the bunker that did that. It’s not my fault that the corporation has such faulty containment methods for an acknowledged extremely dangerous virus. I mean, the lab should have had multiple isolation methods to prevent any leaks from getting out. All I did was demonstrate that the corporation was a poorly prepared as they were greedy. Though I suppose that was their multiple failsafe system, come to think of it.

Well, technically, you might want to refamiliarize yourself with the felony murder rule.

I’ve never seen any of the six movies in the series, and played about half an hour of a demo of one of the games the movies are adapions of. But from pop culture osmosis I’m pretty sure I know what series it is. Is it the first movie?

I’m a semi-successful writer and retired vet. I’ve had a rough life, losing my closest friend (more like a brother) on the battlefield and then later my son to a pool accident. My marriage ended shortly after that. Later, my aunt dies and I move into her house to try to write away my emotional trauma and survivor’s guilt.

Instead of being a soothing experience, something in her house triggers my PTSD. I start having hallucinations and can’t tell whether things are actually happening or not. My hot neighbor is a welcome distraction, but the relationship goes nowhere.

Eventually I find out the friend I thought I had lost in the war is still around. It turns out, he was a POW and blamed me for the pain he went through. After the war he tracked me down and kidnapped my son from the pool. We have a heated confrontation and I try to keep it civil but he’s not having it. I take him out and discover my son is still alive, kept captive all this time.
AITA?

I don’t want to sound bullish, but you did leave your friend behind.

Ok, I’m stumped.I tried some general google searches and the wonderful and totally accurate and dependable Google AI confidently tells me the title of the movie…that doesn’t exist!

Anyone else think that the name of the film, blurred, at the end of these posts would be helpful? Some of these are driving me mad because I just can’t work them out!

Yes…

Ok I’ll start, but it’s of course too late to go back and edit. So mine are in order

Titanic
The Graduate
The Godfather (from Vito)
Vertigo
The Bridges of Madison County
Aliens (from Burke)
Escape from NY
Elf
Forrest Gump (from Jenny)
It’s a Good Life (Twilight Zone)
Goldfinger (from the title character)
Moonraker (from Drax)
A View To A Kill (from Zorn)
Sherlock Holmes (not any particular film)

May a thousand blessings be upon your head!

So googling I found this must be House, a movie I’ve never even heard of. From wikipedias plot summary it sounds bonkers, but more tedious than I got from the IATA.

I’ve heard of House II: The Second Story. Was it a sequel to this?
