Have you ever posted something here on the Boards that you either[ul][li]_Immediately_ regretted, due to the manner in which it was worded or perhaps the forum in which it was presented, or[/li][li]discovered it the following morning, possibly hung over, and realized that you probably should’ve held back and refrained from hitting the “submit” button until you were in a better frame of mind?[/ul]Have you ever made a post you wish you hadn’t?[/li]_Did you ever wish you could take it back?_ I’ve read a few posts here lately where I’m certain that the writer(s), though they have a right to their feelings and are certainly entitled to airing their views in what I consider an open forum, might be regretting their decision to have worded their thoughts the way they did. If these posters were generally well-liked and respected beforehand, would you hold against them forever a moment of anger, frustration or a lapse of verbal lucidity? I consider Dopers, as a whole, to be an open-minded and forgiving bunch, although certainly it depends on the poster and his/her comments. But it is my hope the the poster’s reputation would be based on their _post history_ and not on a few, ill-chosen words. Comments? ---

Been there. Done that. Many times. Most recent event that comes to mind was my “10 Signs of a Professional Catholic” thread. This one was a double wammy. First of all, though I thought the jokes were okay, I realized the next morning that I should’ve changed “Catholic” to “Christian”, since most of them were about fundamentalist dogma that didn’t apply to Catholics. Nuts. As a mixed blessing, though, it was closed, since I put it in the Pit, and it was more of a joke thread than a rant. Still regret it now, since I was really proud of it, mistakes aside. I’ve actually been thinking about checking with the mods about re-posting it in MPSIMS. With the proper changes made, of course. 😉 Hopefully, this didn’t lower anybody’s opinions of me. Not sure about that one, though. ---

In one of my periodic periods of depression and self-doubt I started one of those “Woe is me” threads that I deeply regretted the next day.
