Pop songs that drag on and on

Wow. It is a pain in the ass, but I was able to complete it in Rock Band by not using my Overdrive, I took a break during the Overdrive sections.

Harry Chapin and no mention of “Cat’s in the Cradle.”

Cat Stevens has to be in this thread, if only for “Moonshadow.” Lose your voice already.

Which brings me to my annoyance with how Overdrive was implemented for the drums…

I should probably clarify the song was far from the only reason I stopped playing, just the proverbial final straw.

The original version from Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid runs 2:30. Too long?

But we all know that Guns 'N Roses ruined it forever.

I see what you did there

Heh, looking at it now, I wish that was the only way I screwed up the title of the song.

“Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden just came on. At the end it repeats so many times: “Won’t you come…Black Hole Sun, Black Hole Sun…Won’t you come…”

Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing” is like this. The fade-out just goes on for-freakin-ever. There is also a Steely Dan song that seems to take forever to fade out - I think maybe it’s “Hey Nineteen”?

“I’ve Got My Mind Set On You” by George Harrison. Drove me up the wall.

Good one!

Except Warren Zevon… his version was golden.

This thread is hilarious. I love almost all of the songs mentioned here.

Except the stuff by Bad Company. Bad Company fucking sucks.

My contribution: Running Against the Wind by Bob Seger.

Against the wind…
Running against the wind…
Oh yeah, I’m running,
Against the wind…

I’m running,
Against the wind.

Still running.
Running against the wind, running against the wind.

Running. Against the wind.

Let the cowboys ride!
Against the wind.
Let your bread get moldy,
Against the wind.
Let eons pass,
Against the wind.
Turn the radio off…

Phew!

Rush - big list
Hey, I’ve got the first 8 albums and they seem compelled to write neverending songs. Colbert interviewed them and had this gem, to which they declined to answer:
“Have you ever written a song so epic that you have influenced yourselves?”

Sinead O’Connor - Emperors New Clothes
I loooooove Sinead, but I skip this one all the time.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Deep Blue Something… hate everything about it, and it goes on too long…

[fake, puffed up voice] But she said “What about Brrrrreakfast at Tiffany’s?” [/fake, puffed up voice]

“My Sharona.” I think it’s only about 4 minutes long, but it seems to go on for decades.

Michael Damian - Rock On

UB40 - Red Wine

A Horse with No Name.

Every song with a drum solo.

Rock’n Roll axiom #1:

“There is never any use for a drum solo”

Tommy James & The Shondells - Mony Mony
