Pop songs with kick-ass horns

“I’m the man who loves you” by Wilco

Absolute Beginners - The Jam

Ghost Town- The Specials

Lots of Van Morrison, like “Domino” and “Wild Night”.

And Creedence Clearwater Revival being Van Morrison: “Long as I Can See the Light”.

Motley Crue’s “Rattlesnake Shake” has a nice kick from some horns, mostly towards the end.

Oh yeah, same with “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” and Bobby Keys.

“Knock on Wood” Eddie Floyd

“Mustang Sally” Wilson Pickett

Pretty much anything else recorded at Stax/Volt with the Memphis horns.

Kick ass horns? Doot Doot

Much of Phil Collins’ early solo work applies, he brought in Earth, Wind, and Fire’s horn section to do the work.

Although it’s short, I’ve always enjoyed the horn section in “Solitary Man” by Neil Diamond.

It seems like Adam Ant/Adam and the Ants used horns a lot.

Sledgehammer Peter Gabriel

Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses

I Ain’t Got Nobody/Just a Gigolo by David Lee Roth

“Got to Get You into My Life” by The Beatles

Less well known but really catchinane the horn parts in “Super Rad!” by The Aquabats.

Happy Day - Burning Spear

“The Heart of Rock and Roll,” “Trouble in Paradise,” and “Hip To Be Square” by Huey Lewis and the News. Great sax work by Johnny Colla.

“Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel with sax by Phil Woods.

“Scenes From an Italian Restaurant,” and “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” by Billy Joel with sax by Richie Cannata.

“New York State of Mind” by Billy Joel - two different studio recordings. The first one from Turnstiles had Richie Cannata on the sax. A new version was recorded for Joel’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 and 2 with Phil Woods replacing Cannata on the sax.

Can you tell I really, really like the sax?

I’m pretty sure they were synths, although they do indeed kick ass.

Can’t believe I left out the Big Man. The late, great Clarence Clemons on “Jungleland” by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

Nope. These guys.

I’ve always liked the horn/sax break in Face The Face.
