# Popeye Question

Is Olive Oyl’s brother named Wimpy, or Castor? I’ve done some research but came up with no definite answer. If her brother is Castor (and I think it is), who the hell is Wimpy the mooch? Where did he come from? A few weeks ago I read a comic where Popeye called him (Wimpy) Castor. Are they two in one? Also, does Olive have any more relatives?

I’m not an expert on the comic strip Popeye (I do have the two oversized Fantagraphics reprint volumes, but I really haven’t looked at them- the cartoon Popeye is more my expertise), but as stated, Wimpy is not related to Olive Oyl. According to [Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olive_Oyl), besides Castor, Olive has a mother named Nana Oil, a father named Cole Oyl, Cole’s estranged wife Cylinda Oyl, a niece named Deezil Oyl, a cousin named Otto Oyl, and two brothers named Sutra Oyl and Lubry Kent Oyl. Olive’s original boyfriend was Harold Hamgravy, but once a certain sailor came to town, she only had eyes for him.

Thanks, all. But, a couple more questions: Did both Castor and Wimpy mooch hamburgers? Did they look alike? I want to know who I’m looking at when I read the Popeye comics! (Actually I kinda look like Wimpy, which is why I’m so curious.) 🙂

Castor did not mooch hamburgers. [He looks](http://www.theneitherworld.com/popeye/castor.htm) somewhat like Wimpy, but he’s smaller, wears a smaller hat that isn’t a derby, and has a visible mouth and no mustache (unlike Wimpy, whose mouth is not visible unless it’s open and has a little mustache under his nose.)
