Popular songs ruined forever (played in the wrong music genre)

That’s nothing. Try this version of “Enter Sandman”:

I’ve heard “Enter Sandman” played by a high school marching band.

My own personal introduction to “Smoke on the Water” was junior high band. Yes, really.

Mine, too, oddly enough.

Some songs are so loathsome that it’s a blessing when they are finally put out of their misery (the Bonzos are a genre all to themselves).

I’m fond of the Los Straitjackets version.

Too bad they couldn’t have gotten this Brazilian guy to do the vocals (Enter Sandman at 2:26):

Alrighty, then! This makes it Official. I am NOT a Funk-Sucker.

Dar Williams did a cover of Comfortably Numb that is so abhorrent, I won’t link it, because I like you people and don’t want to hear it ever again.

Saw this in Germany, on the Euro MTV, in '95 or '96. Rather liked it.

Ruined forever? Not hardly.

I like Curtis Stiger, The Forest Rangers, and several other indie artists from Sons of Anarchy a bit, too.

A down-tempo, bluesy cover of Bohemian Rhapsody (at least until the outro):

There’s also Nouvelle Vague (Punk/New Wave/Post Punk/Goth etc originals, all done bossa nova style)

Convoi! was a band from Austin, Texas that played country songs in punk style, and vice versa. They did a Tejano version of London Calling, but I can’t seem to find it online. Here’s their version of green Day’s Basket Case.
