Popular songs used as tv or movie themes

Forgive me, no offence intended.

The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice use “For the Love of Money.”

The Apprentice: Martha Stewart used “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”

That song used for “Absolutely Fabulous,” Wheels go 'round or something…I don’t know the title.

This Wheel’s On Fire, Bob Dylan. Performed for AbFab by Julie Driscoll and Adrian Edmonson. For the Last Shout special it was done by Marianne Faithfull and P.P. Arnold.

Georgia On My Mind was the theme for Designing Women, instrumental only for 2 seasons, then Doc Severinsen for 3 seasons and then performed by Ray Charles in season 6.

I thought the theme to Chuck was just a zippy little instrumental, but then I was listening to a radio station and lo-and-behold, it’s the bridge to an actual song with lyrics and everything (though what the name of the song is, who sings it, or how old it might be–I have no clue).

YCDTOT?

“Short Skirt / Long Jacket” by Cake, released in 2001.
Another Cake song, “Italian Leather Sofa” from 1996, was used as the theme song to the short-lived animated show Mission Hill.

I’m not sure if this counts as a popular song, but the Rembrandt’s I’ll Be There For You was written specifically to be the theme for Friends. It was only later that they recorded a full version.

I don’t know, kemosabe.

"Long Lonesome Highway", a top 40 hit, was the theme song for “Then Came Bronson”

If it does, then Sousa’s Liberty Bell March should also.

Hell, Beethovan’s Ninth Symphony (second movement) was used for the Huntley Brinkley Report and now for Countdown with Keith Obermann (somewhat rocked up).

The Dean Martin Show opened with his hit “Everybody Loves Somebody.”

Songs that have been used too much…

Oh, yeah, the Eagles’ Journey of the Sorcerer was used as the main theme for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

The Doris Day Show opened with Que Sera Sera. Not that I’m old or anything.

“Thank You For Being A Friend” for “Golden Girls.”

The U.S. version of “House” uses a song by Massive Attack, but i can’t remember the name of it.

I think “It’s a Living” used a popular song as a theme too, but I can’t remember which one it was either. Anyone else know?

The Young Ones used a version of the Cliff Richard song by the same name (performed by the show’s cast). (Keep the commentary to yourself, the only reason I even know who Cliff Richard is is the show.)

All the others I can think of have been named. >_>

Charlie Brooker’s Screen Wipe has Grandaddy’s ‘A M 180’ as its signature tune.

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned “Happy Days”…whad’ya mean, see post #2?

OK, well then, how about “The Peter Gunn Theme”? That was pretty popular for a tv theme song. :smack:

OK, I got nothing.
