**Sketches of Spain** - the seminal album by Miles Davis & Gil Evans uses a military-style drum roll in several points. IIRC, Grace Slick admitted that the drum-lick for “White Rabbit” was based off of this record. ---

The end of “Fields of Fire” by **Big Country**. I can’t picture it right now (I’m listening to other music on headphones), but I think “Tramp The Dirt Down” by **Elvis Costello** also has a military/marching beat. ---

There’s a hiphop skratch mix of military cadence on this album: [http://preview.tinyurl.com/2fg849](http://preview.tinyurl.com/2fg849) and it’s a common beat through the rest of the album. I have also always thought that Mitch Mitchel (sp) of The Jimi Hendrix Experiance had a very cadence type style, and there’s a version of Jimi doing The Little Drummer Boy, which is interesting. ---
