Well, since the youngest of their five children is now in his late 30s, Mom has gotten out of the habit of cooking for an infantry regiment. She and Dad cook for two now most nights. And they don’t have big appetites. So the days of competitive eating are more or less over at Grandma’s house. ---

Odd. When I make pork chops, I dredge (?) them in corn meal and pan-fry them. This is the only way I know how to eat them. ---

I’m a vegetarian myself, but I occasionally take pity on Mr. Legend and make pork chops. I can make them three or four different ways, even. My only requirement is that someone else clean the pork grease out of whatever pan I’ve used. Dave, will your wife make you pork tenderloins? That’s another rare treat in our household, one I’ll make far less often than pork chops, since I have to cut the meat and then (ugh) pound it thin. Next time, I won’t marry a man whose mother is from the midwest. ---

The way it was explained to me had something to do with " two generations at once", but I’ll be damned if I can remember the wording of what my friend told me, so that’s the best I can do 🙂 ---
