Huh, so we lost everything going back to Dec 7th. s’okay. Just means this thread was lost as well. So! Porkapalooza is still on for June 1st, and details are being hammered out. To recap for those of you playing at home: I’m roasting a pig. A big’un. I’ve reserved a chunk of a city park and it’s gonna be roxx0r. (You crazy kids use those words today, right? roxx0r? I just wanna make sure I’m “hip” and “with it”. I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, and now what I’m with isn’t it, and what’s it is scary and frightening.) This is taking place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Saturday, June 1st. If yer coming, yell out here. I’ll also put various updates as they come into this thread, and so on and so forth. I soooooooo wish I could make it. But that’s a long way to drive from the east coast, I certainly don’t have enough money for a plave ticket. I’m going to try really, really hard to be there. This is a big deal, you know, crossing the river into Minneapolis. I hear rumors that they can tell by looking if you’re from St. Paul, and everybody points at you and laughs. Scary, scary stuff. What park did you reserve? Should we bring side dishes of some kind? What about non-alcoholic drinks? Can we have a bonfire? With marshmallows? What time does it start? Inquiring minds want to know! 😛 ---

I got the large picnic shelter (100++ people) at [Brookview Park](http://www.ci.golden-valley.mn.us/parks/parks/BrookivewPark.htm) in Golden Valley. (Huh- I just noticed the url has that as Brookivew. As long as it works…) Dunno about a bonfire there, but we can grill marshmallows, if you want. 😉 I’ll check with the Park & Rec department to see if they’d allow one, but I’m doubtful as there’s no firepit at the park … but I think there is a fireplace in the shelter, so that might work. Side dishes and nonalcoholic beverages are of course welcome, as are donations to defray the cost of the pig and the park. ---

I’m gonna try really hard to make it - just depends on if my place of work can live without me for a few days. I plan on bringing my best buddy from high school (she lives in the Cities) and all my favorite Scandihoovian aunts/uncles/cousins. Now should I pack for hot and humid weather, or will there be snow on the ground? Checking out airfare right now, can’t wait!!! ---

I asked the nice, very nice, receptionist at the Basilica of St. Mary if she could direct me to Plymouth Congregational. She had a really hard time. She kept saying, “Well, dear, you go that way, then, no, let me think…” She had to get out of the chair and physically turn herself in the directions she was describing. "OK. You come out of the parking lot and turn right. " She pivoted 90 degrees to the right. "Then you turn left on Hennepin " She pivoted 90 degrees to the left. And so on, through the entire thing. And you think WE use a GPS? On the plus side, our street layout keeps Jesse over on your side of the river! 😛 ---

I’m coming and if it’s OK with you my husband will come too because he knows a lot about pig roasts having grown up in rural Missouri and I am excited to go because I have never been to a Dopefest or a pig roast and I want to meet all the fine Dopers in Minneapolis and it’s going to be way fun (inhale) because I like pork and also I like the Straight Dope.
