# Posers hooted off the Boards

I had a liitle piece of discrediting **Beefyman** ’s claims in the thread [It takes five minutes to start a tank?](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122781&highlight=yojimboguy) **Beefyman** hasn’t posted since. I’m curious about the phenomena of falsely claiming knowledge by “personal experience”, and even belittling those who challenge the claims.
Can you point me to some other similar threads, Members who’ve made such claims, had them discredited, and disappeared (presumably in shame)?
Maybe this belongs in IMHO, but since it necessarily being judgemental on the honesty/credibility/sanity of posters, I thought it safest here in the Pits.

Aw, let’s be charitable and assume that the reason Beefyman disappeared was not because he “slunk away in shame”, but because he found out the Secret Information about the top speed of the M-1, and the Gray Men came and got him.

I tried to parse your sentence. I had to drop some words and what-not, so I don’t know if it satisfies you, but it’s the best I could do. Some badass syntax you had going there.
**The war against ignorance is the only one worth being a soldier in the army.**
Adding ‘for’ or ‘on’ at the end makes it more clear, but takes some symmetry out and makes it a little bit more cumbersome. You can also replace against with on, but that makes it ambiguous towards which side you’re on.
I also came up with this alternative;
**The army in the war on ignorance is the only one worth being a soldier for.**
Not great either, but as I said - it’s a tough one. I’m sure there are members with more feeling for syntax that could do better. Post the question somewhere, it was fun trying.
Oh, and if hunting posers is your sport, I have a big-game expedition under way, but you know that already. Bring big GD rhetoric guns and stealth equipment.

Did that woman’s husband who said she was dying of some brain thing ever get back to us?
I remember reading the thread. A lot of people thought she was bullshiting and she said that after her death her husband would post with proof of her death.
There was a guy who said he was a secret agent but he caught himself out with one of his own sock puppets.
