[From the _Washington Post_](https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2018/06/26/he-flew-across-the-world-to-break-into-a-14-year-olds-home-police-say-her-mom-shot-him/?utm_term=.1e4ee4d3e5df): A 25-year-old New Zealand man had been communicating over the Internet with a 14-year-old girl from Virginia, although the girl was reportedly trying to break off communications with him. The man, Troy George Skinner, flew to the United States and showed up at the girl’s house; he had bought a pocket knife, and also had pepper spray and duct tape. When Skinner tried to break down down a door, the mother warned him she had a gun; when he succeeded in breaking a glass door, the mother shot him twice. Skinner is expected to survive and is facing charges of “breaking and entering with a deadly weapon, with intent to commit a serious felony”. ---
