Not a bug, which is kinda what I expected. Check out **MattK** ’s first post in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=126986), and **zweisamkeit** ’s quote of it. Link works in the first one, but not the second, so I’m guessing **zweisamkeit** just used C&P instead of the quote button. ---

In the thread I linked to in my third post, the link in **MattK** ’s post works. The link in **zweisamkeit** ’s quote doesn’t work and it sends to you the board-shortened url, with the ellipsis in the middle. I wondered if long url’s would get quoted incorrectly; hence, this thread. ---

Funny, I did a c&p and it worked fine. The URL display has been trunctated, but the full address is associated with the hyperlink. You’re theory sounds valid, **ultrafilter** , but I couldn’t replicate **zweisamkeit** ’s results. ---

Nevermind. I now see that I forgot the crutial last step of copying the truncated URL display into another reply box. Doing so would have lead to the same URL as **zweisamkeit**.
