Possibly getting rid of my car and doing without one. Crazy?

I missed this thread when it was new but wanted to chime in.

First off, congratulations - I think you made the right decision.

I have been car-less for at least 15 years. I have a bicycle and a scooter (1 person-power type - not electric).

I also have a monthly Transit pass which gets me almost anywhere I need to go and costs me $85/month. Compare that with an estimate of $400-$500 per month total expenses for a car. If I need to take the occasional cab/Lyft ride I am still way ahead of the game financially. That’s money which is going towards retirement.

Plus I get more exercise than I would if I had a car. And I contribute far less in terms of emissions to our over-worked planet.

Today we got our 7th vehicle for 6 drivers. Our yard looks like a used car lot. Joys of rural living.
