Let me try again. I botched the clue, and it was all I could due in the time I had left on the edit window. At dinner, some say that “A.I.G.'s bad debt” is left here. (2 5 4) I’m not sure if I can do this answer with any clue. However, I think that you guys are a resourceful bunch. Once it is solved, can someone please explain how I could have made this clue better? If I need to repent for my cryptic clue sin, let me know that as well. ---

I’m gonna bump this to say that fans of cryptics should keep an eye out for the November issue of _Games World of Puzzles_, which has a section with 10 cryptics by Bob Stigger, of whom I am a fan. The ten include four “regular” cryptics – two straight and two theme – and six variety cryptics, several of which are extremely challenging. ---
