I paid for a while, then got tired of paying given the performance of the board and the growing insularity. Now that P2P is over, I’m hoping for more of the old SDMB flavor to return. Minus the performance issues 😃 ---

Wow - almost a decade and this is the first time I’ve ever opened the SDMB posting box. Kinda spiffy here, like a rectangle of gray and black and dreams come true. Like most of the other posts here, I’ve been a long-time lurker. A significant quantity of my mental useless-information catalog has been gleaned from these forums. I could never quite bring myself to pay for posting, though - and the general quality of users/conversations here can sometimes be…intimidating, I suppose. After so long, though, I feel almost obligated to buy a membership - it’d be like the cheapest encyclopedia set ever. Anyways, hi! You guys are awesome - keep it up. ---

I’ve been around a long while… I remember I lurked for a long time, finally signed up (don’t remember the username, and I’m several dead email accounts down the line ☹ ) and like a week later it was announced the board was going pay. Been here off and on since then, finally decided to ‘blow’ my trial time a few months ago, and like a week after that it was announced the board was going free.
