For those keeping track – I just got the “thanks but no thanks” from my phone interview I had Monday – at least I know. I do have a phone interview at another place scheduled for Feb 11. (earliest I could schedule it)

That’s a shame, but at least they got back to you relatively fast.
Best of luck on the next interview!
As a software engineer who has been on interview panels I’d probably have a mildly negative reaction if a candidate deduced my email from the Zoom call and reached out that way. It’s got a bit of a needy “smell” to it. Very mild though, I think mostly it’d just reinforce my priors from the interview. If it didn’t go well I’d have a “argh, just go away” reaction.
If I happened to already be on an email chain with the candidate (even for mundane logistics reasons) one more email on the chain isn’t going to do any damage, and if you have a brief, interesting comment on something that came up in the interview an additional small reminder of why I liked you at a lucky moment could work out.
In short, “it depends”. Glad I could help! More seriously, I’d probably skip it. Keep up the quick communications with the recruiter but don’t reach out to people who’s email you haven’t explicitly been given.
