Seriously though this type of post apocolyptic what do the survivors do now is one of my favorite genres of tv/books. I have never heard of this show and now realize there are 3 seasons out. I will start watching. I think the book “The Earth Abides” got it very right. If 99% of any society is very quickly removed from the picture two things are quickly going to happen. One there won’t be enough skilled people left to do anything like run power stations etc. Population densities and also technical skills won’t be anywhere near high enough to maintain anything like “civilization” as we now know it. Once grocery stores worth of nonperishable foods are consumed the survivors will be screwed. Without educating the survivors future children how to read, which will happen on a massive scale, written language will be meaningless. Future generations won’t be able to gain from the knowledge we now have because they won’t be able to read. Within a generation if not sooner people will be living a hunting gathering existence with limited agriculture in climates where it’s possible. It would be like the dawn of agriculture at 10,000 BC all over again. At least that’s my take on it.
