The kaiju habitat is the coastal areas. Let’s just move the humans to the non-coastal areas, and we can all co-exist. ---

Without Kaiju to inspire us, think of the scientific applications we’d have missed out on. Tang, Velcro, the Oxygen Destroyer, all anti-Kaiju spin-offs that we use every day. ---

We must address the underlying causes that lead Kaiju to act out. Young Kaiju just want economic opportunity and justice like everyone else. Simply repeating the same military-heavy strategy that has not destroyed the Kaiju, only adds to overall destabilization and draws all sides into a conflagration of violence. The common denominator among Kaiju appears to be a combined sense of anger at current conditions — no jobs, no income, no voice, no power — and hopelessness about improving their future wellbeing. Sustained military attacks alone have proven difficult to eradicate Kaiju, because they merely augment the social, economic, psychological and political stresses that generate mass discontent, vulnerability and desperation. ---

The Kaiju, with thier two hearts, feel things more deeply than you or I. Their inner emotional lives are incredibly rich and complex in that they are capable of tremendous love and empathy, but also of titanic rage. Sadly though, the stronger a Kaiju’s emotions are, the less sophisticated his awareness of his own emotions is likely to be. ---

I grieve for the dead inhabitants of Santa Clara, CA and my thought and prayers are with their families and friends. But let us try to be calm and reasoned and not break out the torches and pitchforks because of an unfortunate accident. Do you seriously believe this particular Kaiju rose from the bottom of the sea this morning with the intention of killing Mr and Mrs Santa Clara? Theres the letter of the law and then theres the law of physics, and the laws of physics says that when a 300 ft tall monster meets a small coastal city the city looses. Infrastructure needed to make Kaiju transversal of the american continent completely safe could cost 100’s of billions of dollars. Probably less than 1% of all cities will ever be mauled by a Kaiju. In an ideal world we could build all this and more, but we live in the real world and in the real world you just don’t use these kind of resources for the comfort of a small minority. ---

It’s called an accident because it happened accidentally and it can happen to all excessively big and temperamentally challenged creatures. If insurance don’t pay up the families of the victims can try to seek recompense through lawsuit. But I would strongly encourage them to let bygones be bygones and let time heal their wounds. ---

Kaiju are humanity’s creation, the embodiment of unrestricted arms deployment. We’ve grown to think mass destruction is the key to achieving peace. The kaiju teach us otherwise. We must learn to live with the consequences of our actions, rather than eliminating them. The kaiju is needed to extend the life of our planet, much like the ways natural disasters decrease overpopulation. The kaiju grows stronger and angrier when we attack it, symbolic of our unchecked rage. We feed it the energy it hungers for, thereby extending its life and destructive capacity. If we stop providing what makes it strong, it will eventually collapse of starvation. Better to be guilty of neglect than overfeeding the power. ---
