# Post to the Dope as Celebrity \<blank\>

The rules are simple. Doper A names a famous person, living or dead, and writes a post as that person might have. Doper B then names another famous person in whose persona the next post is written, and so on.

Please write only in the persona of real persons. Raymond Chandler is eliglible; Philip Marlowe is not. Apart from that and the requirement that each post take the previous as a springboard, there are no real rules. Stay on topic if you wish, or ramble off-topic if that amuses you. Just remember to specify whose persona the next poster is assuming. Also, if you feel you can’t make a post work in the current “thread,” feel free to pick a new famous person to write as and start something new.

I’ll begin by writing as Raymond Chandler.

FORUM: CAFE SOCIETY  
SUBJECT: Help! I’m not sure who the murderer in my story is!

Guys, I need help and I need it fast. You may recall the story I posted bits of last year, “The Big Sleep” – the detective yarn starring Philip Marlowe. Well, it’s being made into a movie by Howard Hawks, which of course is wonderful – but it presents a problem. HH just sent me a note asking who killed the chauffeur, and I’m embarrassed to say that I got so much into the lyricism of the language and the darkness of Marlowe’s inner life that I forgot to resolve that. Any thoughts?

Wouldn’t this be more fun if you named someone, or if we didn’t tell you who we were pretending to be, giving you a chance to guess?

In that vein, I will post:

Me: “So what do you think my cat is thinking when he watches TV?”

Mystery poster: “He’s probably agreeing with me that all three of those movies suck. I don’t care that I was in them.”
