Post-vasectomy testing question

In a previous thread I received overwhelming advice to get tested after my vasectomy.

I received the results today (no swimmers) and was pleased to be “sterile.”

However, I was told to submit a 2nd sample in 6 weeks “just to be safe” and to “continue to use protection until then.” I asked if this was a formality, and if they had any data on how often a positive test comes back after a negative (I am almost 3 months post-vasectomy and well past the recommended “trials”), and they said it was something they recommend.

My inclination is to ignore this advice, and consider myself “officially sterile”… how many dopers waited for a 2nd post-vasectomy negative test result before “feeling safe”?

Aw, come on! There were six post-vasectomy babies mentioned in that thread and you’re thinking about skipping the second test? Not a good idea.

I distinctly recall doing the follow up sampling twice. So far, no spare Buslings, so based upon my experience, yeah, give one more up for the team.

How much of a problem would an unexpected pregnancy be? Like “shoot, not exactly what we planned” or more like “oh my God what are we going to do?”?

Not I. Having to spank it in the bathroom stall once was more than enough, thank you. (No magazine, no privacy, the sound of other guys walking in and out, using the urinal and washing their hands… I never knew masturbation could require such force of will.)

Oh, good! I love Doper pregnancy and baby threads!

As an unexpected pregnancy would be catastrophically bad for me, (nervously typing): “sorry honey, it looks like 6 more weeks of birth control…”
