I gotta admit that I haven’t played the game, and ain’t that much up on the whole deal, but I fear that the best part of the movie will be the Taco Bell and Cherry Pepsi commercials. Waddayall think? ---

Hoo-boy. Well, I think it’ll be quite the hit with the 12-18-male demographic. 🙂 Seriously, Angelina Jolie’s got a few things going for her in this one. Lips, breasts… No offense, but she’s never made a great impression on me as an actor. But the visual effects of the film should be pretty good, since it has a budget. And of course, if this movie does well it might open the gates for other, more deserving video games to be made into films, like _Dungeons of Daggorath_ for the old Color Computer… 🙂 ---

Actually, I liked the game a lot! And the sequel! Now, as for the movie, all I have to say is that Angela Jolie DOES look like Laura Croft in the ads I have seen (IE: HOT!)… but beyond that, who knows? I’ll probably wait until it comes out on video… ---

**Astroboy** , I thought it was downright _freaky_ how much she looked like Lara Croft in the ad I saw! My daughter and her godfather are chomping at the bit to see it, which saves me from finding out firsthand if it’s a real stinker. I get to wait for the review from them before I spend money on it. ---

As far as the tie-in omens go, it doesn’t look good. -You don’t want to tie-in with Pepsi, you want Coke. -You don’t want to tie-in with Burger King, you want McDonalds. -You really don’t want to tie-in with Taco Bell. -You want the video featuring your movie’s “song” to NOT look like “A View To A Kill” did with Duran Duran. I just saw the Tomb Raider video of “Elavation” by U2. Bono and The Edge cut into shots from the movie. Kind of lame. All this considered, I think it’ll suck. We’ll see. ---

I just hope I can suspend disbelief long enough to forget that half of what I see on screen will actually be her stunt double. …and I must tell y’all that this is the only movie YET this summer that my wife said she’s wants to see the day it opens. Have I mentioned recently how great my wife is? A movie that she KNOWS has 'splosions, gunfights and jiggly breasteses, and she STILL wants to see it, possibly more than I do! ---

I’m guessing we’re going to see… 1. Guns. Lots and lots and lots of guns. 2. Scantily-clad bodacious ta-ta’s. 3. Acrobatics. In various combinations. Pretty much non-stop. That’s what the game’s all about, after all. Everything else is gravy. p.s. let’s just hope her stunt double is a hottie, too… ---

Here’s the bad sign. Tomb Raider is being restricted to critics. The chicago screening allowed “very few” reviewers. That usually means that the creators are so confident it will get panned that they don’t want anyone to see it. The last movie I heard of that was restricted to critics was “The Avengers” and we all know how that turned out. I’m sad though, Tomb Raider is one of my favorite games. I was hoping Angelina would try to unlock a door and have to say, “No” jarbaby ---

Well, has there ever been a good (or even tolerable) movie made from a video/computer game? I don’t think so. From what I’ve seen, it looks like lots of Indiana Jones-style stunts/special effects. Which would be great if the movie had been made 20 years ago. They pretty much lost me when they started doing the cheesy tie-in commercials a month before the movie opened. It’s hard to maintain the appropriate level of suspension of disbelief when you expect to see a battery or Pepsi commercial at any moment during the movie. ---

Good Lord, AJ jiggles when she runs. Now that I have that off my chest (puns, me?), I have to say this movie is gonna blow. Video game license movies suck. Never fails. Um, let’s see: Double Dragon, Supermario Brothers, Mortal Kombat, Streetfighter Live Action movie, Wing Commander (actually I kinda liked WC–sue me. It still tanked, though). ---
