I know I’ve overstayed my welcome in this thread, but I forgot about Bobcat Goldthwait setting Jay Leno’s Couch on fire. I can’t find a video. I haven’t seen it in a long time, and forgot what happened. The Oprah that featured Barbara Walters pimping her new book. She and Oprah talked about being the “other” woman in relationships and got very indignant at being referred to as “mistresses.” They made it clear that they had their own money and were independent, etc. It was really bizarre because they were all, “You go, girl!” about adultery and it seemed really bitchy and inappropriate. ---

Dawn French had said to Johnathan that she was “moist” at the prospect. Dr. Ruth had been on next and commented how great it was that in 1987 on a british talk show you were allowed to say this =) Then Terry Gilliam…well it’s right at the beginning of the clip. Shocked the hell out of me at the time, heh. ---

Gwyneth Paltrow on The Daily Show. It was shortly after Apple was born, and maybe Jon’s son was about a year old at that point. Jon was clearly thrilled to have her as a guest. But he made a crack about how maybe his son would do her daughter when they grew up. She laughed a little and said she didn’t think Chris would appreciate that. Well, that was the opening Jon needed! He then spent the next five minutes being a total fangirl for Chris Martin. Gwyneth just looked really uncomfortable. ---

Did anyone else here see George Carlin on _Arsenio Hall_ the night he replaced his stand-up act with a big, long rant about racism and golf? It was completely unexpected and everyone was totally silent throughout the whole thing. ---

Oh man, I hope this is the right clip. I can’t view video at work, but my googling for “awkward spelling bee champ” keeps bringing [this](http://www.fanhouse.com/2007/06/08/awkward-interview-spelling-bee-champ-evan-odorney/) kid up, so I’m fairly sure it’s what I’m looking for. Poor interviewer, she was really earning her salary there. ---

I know that Norm McDonald was on Dennis Miller’s show several times, but the one I remember was McDonald stoned out of his fucking mind. When Miller couldn’t get through it, he decided to just go with it, and the “interview” went completely off the rails. ---

I never knew how to take Brother Theodore. Wiki says he called his stuff “standup tragedy”. He did Carson several times, and I’m not sure Johnny knew what to do with him either. Loretta Lynn embarrassed Carson once, talking about childbirth, feet up in stirrups. IIRC, she started to demonstrate the position. ---
