Or how about songs by people who sound like they’re drunk? I guess that would include just about anything by Dean Martin, Tom Waits, and Lucinda Williams. Or songs that sound like they’re being performed at a party with a lot of drunk people? (Beach Boys’ “Barbara Ann”, Delaney & Bonnie’s “Never Ending Song of Love”, “Here Comes My Baby” by the Tremeloes) Drinking songs? Lots of good ones have already been mentioned; I’ll add “Hey Bartender” by Floyd Dixon, “Gimme That Wine” by Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, and “Drinkin’ Wine Spo-De-O-Dee” by Stick McGee. Hoy! Hoy! ---

I know I already posted three, but may I throw in some more, please? 😃 The first three songs on [The Pogues’ _If I Should Fall From Grace With God_](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Lw9545dCM) are pretty much the apex of rowdy rock-influenced Irish folk music. And then the fourth track is their best-known track, “Fairytale of New York.” Even though it’s about weed, not booze, [Afroman’s “Because I Got High”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeYsTmIzjkw) is one of the best drunk group singalong songs I’ve ever heard. ---

I haven’t thought of this song in years, but I remember the whole bar screaming that refrain (if anyone isn’t familiar, it’s actually called _Living Next Door to Alice_. So fun. Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight”, or rather, the short part before all the rest of the instruments join in. There was a shushi restuarant on the beach in SoCal that would play loud music all night while people were getting wasted on sake and whatnot and everyone would be in their own drunken conversation but when that part came on everyone “played” the drum part with their chopsticks, knocking their shot glass or whatever on the table for the last two beats. I’m sure the same sort of thing happened / happens in lots of places when that song is played. Oddly, I love Phil Collins, and I love that memory, but I generally skip this song as I find it pretty boring otherwise. A cheesy example is Garth Brooks’ _Friends in Low Places._. I’m not ashamed to say I think it’s a pretty fun song in it’s own right and having it come on in a bar can pep up an otherwise boring night. ---
