Just 3 more days until EuroDope! I’m so excited. I bought my ticket yesterday, and I’m eager to go. I’ll be happy to send a postcard to any poster who e-mails me w/their address. I’m also going to be sure and takes tons of pictures and post them on a webpage.
If you send one of those all-black postcards that say, “Copenhagen at Night”, you will be shot, exiled to Antarctica, banned from the boards (clear evidence of being a jerk) and then fined 100 kroner.
Now behave, CK, or you’re bound to end up with a picture of the Danish Royal Family, including both princes and the royal dachshunds, in complete regalia. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
I’m excited as well - this’ll be fun. And to be present at the inaugural EuroDope is definitely going to be something to tell the grandchildren. Woohoo! - watch out, Copenhagen!
Well that’s ut of the question, so I’ll be in Copenhagen in spirit.
Pop me a card.
Chief Scott, is there absolutely no chance of you coming? If you can hop a Mac flight, I’ll pick you up at the airport & smuggle you to Copenhagen in my luggage.
(I almost slipped up and put a smiley there)
CK, I was just going to draw pictures of Copenhagen on index cards, and mail 'em. Who needs fancy postcards when you’ve got stolen office supplies?
Norm, it is a damn shame that I ran out of Luxembourg Royal Family postcards. Why is it that all European Royalty looks like they were frozen in the 60’s?
I’ve been practicing my Danish. So far, I can say Jeg vil gerne have en ol. And that’s all I really need to know, isn’t it.
tater! I’d love a postcard. Can you get the other Eurodopes to sign it too? That’d be a precious thang!
I’l be willing to send ya goodies from your Memphis homeland too!
YES!!! I want One!!! Please Please Please???
Me!!! Me me me me me! Hey, I sent one over to Coldy, so that should count for something.
Address is on the way…
I want a polaroid picture of all of you idjits in Legoland
What was that Danish sentence? Jeg vil gerne have en ol? I would like to have a… what?
Luxembourg is a Duchy. Does that fall in the “Royal” category as well, or is it just nobility? Ah well, it used to be Dutch anyway. Poor bastards chose to become independant
I’ll send you my adress, tatertot. Looking forward to see that card!
It’s “beer”, ColdFire - I would like to have a beer.
Actually, spelling beer in Danish would require a character not present on my current keyboard, the “O with a slash through it”, pronounced somewhat like - well, like the German “Ö”. (Speaking Danish means occasionally using some sounds that other societies would consider obscene.)
So the best I can do right now is “öl”, which incidentally means “oil” in German. Could lead to misunderstandings, I suppose.
I’m afraid we won’t make it to Legoland (unless tatertot & Scarlet have been scheming behind my back), but I suppose Tivoli will do.
Just thinking out loud here…
“öl” (well, with the slash-O) might be somewhat related to the English word “ale”. Or is there another ethymology?
well, both Oil and English lager taste like cat puke, so add in “ail”, gaelic for “sick”
I learned a new phrase today!
Jeg vil gerne have en akvavit.
Mmmmm…potato liquor…
Actually, I’ve decided not to bother learning any more Danish, because 1.) They insist on having these weird letters that nobody ever heard of. and 2.) As an American, all I have to do is talk really ssllooowwwlly and in a goofy accent and I will be understood. It’s in the UN charter and everything.
Coldfire, they have a Grand Duke in Luxembourg, I forgot his name. When we went, we visited the Grand Ducal Palace and they has a guard marching out in front. I think that they were supposed to have two, since the poor guy just marched halfway down the front of the palace, did the little stomping number and turned back. I guess the other guy called in sick or something. I felt sorry for him since it was one of those miserable drizzly European Spring Days and he had to do this totally pointless job in front of a grand total of 4 (two being children) tourists.
BTW guys, I’m leaving tomorrow at 7:00pm (that’d be around noon in Chicago), so please mail me your addresses by then. I plan on mailing the cards from Denmark, so they might take as long as two weeks to get to the States.
OH! Me, me, me!! I’d really love a postcard from Copenhagen! Does it help that my given name is from a Dutch ancestor?
I’ll send you my address right away.
My address is on the way. Oh, and I like the idea of all the Euro-Dopers signing it (if possible). Thanks!
I’ll ask Scarlett & Norman to sign them, too. Heck, I might have them write them, too, since I never know what to put on a postcard.
Woo-Hoo, I’m leaving in about 12 hours! I’m riding one of those sleeper cars with bunk beds, I hope I can sleep.
Have a great trip Tater!
PS: If you go on the Carlsberg Brewery tour, bring a backpack. At the end, you get to sit at long tables with sample beers, which can be discretely stuffed into said backpack and clanked off into the night. Or so my 24 year old self remembers.
