I figure if they’re going to unfriend me over providing factual information, I didn’t really need them as a friend anyway. ---

The last one I responded to was about how there were 317 million people in the US and we spent 360 million introducing Obamacare. Should have just given each citizen a million bucks. I pointed out that the math only works out to $1.14 per person. I tactfully did not mention that she’s married to a college math professor. ---

I may have lost a few friends but don’t really care. If you’re going to post inflammatory bullshit you should be called out on it. I pretty much make it a point to debunk things, whether on Facebook or when I hear a coworker’s conversation. On Facebook, I always reply, “DEBUNKED by Snopes,” followed by a link to the appropriate Snopes page. I don’t think anybody has complained. ---

I unfriended someone, but not because she debunked me. She was posting a link to the story of the Charleston church shooting (Dylan Roof), and how it appeared he was being perpwalked without being handcuffed. (He was handcuffed, but a man in front has his arm up, so you can’t tell) and claimed it was proof once again of white superiority. I posted TWICE that it was wrong, and the person who had initially tweeted it had to recant. She deleted my correction post each time. I said, “Screw it” and unfriended her. She wants to wallow in her ignorance, go ahead. I don’t need to see it. For the most part people are appreciative. ---

Yeah, that once every 834 years thing is so idiotic. Had a reasonably intelligent (IT worker) guy I know post that. Was absolutely astonished it would come from him. I pointing out that this would happen in any 31 day month beginning on a Friday, which should happen, oh, once ever 7 years on average for each particular month. At that point he became the butt of the joke from his other friends until he deleted it later that day. ---

I’ve never unfriended someone because of what they post. I just unfollow them. I’m happier, and they’re none the wiser (not that they were that wise to begin with). ---

the 834 year thing is beyond stupid. As stated above, any time a 31 day month starts on Friday it happens. Since there’s only 7 possible days to start the month and since you have 7 months with 31 days every year, well it isn’t that rare. The Mars thing comes up every year from the same people. The political hate shit drives me nuts. Anti-Muslim, anti-Obama crap. Did you know Obama painted Air Force One with his logo on the tail? Outrageous! Then there is the share this, each like= one prayer, each share= ten prayers. Where is that written? My Bible doesn’t include the Book of Face. ---

I’ve done it a couple of times and have been thanked. But there are some people that I know won’t thank me so I don’t post responses that link to the doubted commentary. When I see that type of person on my FB, I tend to just unfollow them so their loony-toon-bandwagon posts don’t irritate me. That way, they still see me as a friend and aren’t offended themselves. But I have also been unfriended for posting on political topics. So be it. ---

There’s a setting that allows you to hide people from your feed. It doesn’t unfriend them, it just means you don’t see the glurge/whinging/racism unless you click through to their profile to read it. ---

I have gotten the “Snopes is run by socialist liberals who will cover up anything they disagree with!” more than an an un-friending. Well, as far as I know anyway. I don’t really do Facebook anymore expressly because I’ve found that I have no desire to know just how racist/bigoted/ignorant many of my old friends/family members are. ---

People are shocked that I refuse to have a personal Facebook account. I don’t have one specifically because I’d rather not know how moronic some of my family is. It makes Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings much less tense. Instead, I can just explain “No, I don’t do Facebook.” ---
