_“bible-bashing”_ and _“bible-thumping”_ are different ways of saying the same thing. The reason **Shodan** gets on my wick is because a majority of his posts seem to be about how mean liberals are, or contain a little snide remark about liberals or anti-liberal so-called ‘humour’, or be about how conservatives are so hard done by etc etc. ---

I always took bible thumpers to mean those who, as they vehemently espouse their views, thump on the bible as if to say “What I’m talking about is in _here_.” I guess the bashers do so to the point of breaking it. ---

Assuming you’re serious, you’re wrong - According to both [Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_thumper) and [Urban Dictionary](http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bible+basher), bible-basher is a synonym of bible-thumper. I’m not going to name names. I don’t remember them, I don’t care to look them up. I imagine most folks will know who they are anyway. It’s the ones who keep dredging up the same arguments, the same claims even after they’ve been refuted repeatedly by, well, everybody. And then they try to turn it onto some sort of “you are an evil unpatriotic disloyal scumbag” argument. They REALLY grind my gears. Because they just. will. not. let. go. ---
