Seriously. Babis in bathtubs are adorable and hilarious and I am not a pervert. Well, not the kiddy porn kind anyway.

There was a segment on the investigative reporting program _Brass Eye_, that said that paedophiles have special nonce technology that allows them to actually bugger a baby simply by looking at flash video of one in the bath. You should take that very seriously.

God help me, there are 3D photos of my baby floating around on the internet. I’m _that_ irresponsible.

I’m not big on posting pictures of people on the net but a 6 month old baby bathing video is pretty harmless. I’m paranoid enough to want to limit family photo’s to only family and friends so whatever technology does that works for me.

I would guess it comes up as a related video to something else and people click on it because babies are cute. I mean there’s one on youtube called “[my nephew’s name] sits and stands up”, which I’ve watched just because it always pops up when I watch the one of my nephew.

if you’re uncomfortable with strangers watching those videos, photobucket might be a better place to put them. You can set a password for guests and there’s no “related videos” or anything

When I posted a few videos of my little girl on YouTube for relatives to view, I didn’t tag the videos with any subject or title that related to the actual content, and I just sent the link to my relatives, and it worked fine.

> You’re going to have those kids for 18 years or more. I think setting up a secure way to share photos/ videos with your family and friends makes sense. Making a life’s worth of family photos available to the entire world doesn’t seem prudent. If you have one or two that you really want to release to the greater YouTube audience, fine, but anonymize them so they aren’t connected to all the other images of your family.

I know I can change the settings so that only certain people can watch my videos. All my videos are all just normal home video stuff. That is why I think it unnecessary to worry about complete strangers watching them.

Are there really preverts out there who get sexual thrills out of watching 6 month old babies?

It is from Stanley Kubrick’s film ‘Dr. Strangelove’. My Dad actually said ‘pedophiles’.

You could do some creative editing, but you need to be careful not to clone out the baby with the bath water.

Punch “baby” into YouTube, and among the first few results:
\>82 million views over 2 years
\>23 million over 2 yr.
\>94 thousand/1 yr.

Punch in “nude baby”:
\>9 thousand/8 months (had “nude” in video title)
\>5 thousand/8 mo. (had “naked” in video title)
\>8 thousand/1 yr.

Punch in “kitten”:
\>2 million/1 yr.
\>700 thousand/10 mo.
\>2 million/9 mo.

Conclusion: Cuteness draws lots viewers. Nakedness of babies draws many fewer viewers. It’s not pedophiles watching your baby video, it’s people who think babies are cute.

Yep. My mom got a laptop for two reasons: downloading audiobooks and putting them on her MP3 player, and looking at cat videos on Youtube. Seriously, when I asked her what she wanted to do with the laptop so I could help her find one, those were the two things listed.

I’m sure there are women out there who are the same way about babies.

Maybe this is better suited for a new thread, but I’ll ask it here first…
Why do I care if perverts surf the internet looking at pictures of a baby in a bath? As long as I’m not providing any identifying information, what’s the big deal?

Choose something. Anything. I guarantee you that if you put it on the web, there is at least one person on the internet who will find it titillating.

Case in point - I posted a [photo](http://www.flickr.com/photos/polkaroo/3399425011/in/set-72157611981886599/) of my Wellington boots on Flickr. It scored 500 views in the space of two days - as well as some very disturbing comments from some rather disturbing individuals (which I’ve since deleted). Apparently, there’s a very active community of fetishists on Flickr who are into rubber boots and rain gear. Who knew?

Personally, I felt very uncomfortable at the idea of a total stranger getting his jollies based on an innocent photo of my legs. I’ve always refused to post naughty photos of myself online because I don’t want to be objectified by random strangers, so having a non-sexual photo of myself become sexualized without my consent was disturbing and frustrating… but that’s just my personal feelings.

So it’s up to you. The reality is that even if you never intended that video of your child to be anything but innocent, cute fun and even if the vast majority of viewers are checking it out because they think babies are adorable and fun… someone, somewhere is interested in it for another reason entirely.

God, I don’t even like kids, and while I don’t look at any nude babies, I have been known to watch lots of those “laughing baby” videos. There is nothing cuter than a laughing baby, especially one that can’t even control itself and is falling over from the laughing.

Cuteness draws, as someone else said.

What Mahna Mahna (what a great username!) says is true, too. I have uploaded two voice clips of myself. I am not saying anything sexual at all, but I am appalled sometimes to find how many times they have been downloaded. I’m not saying people are masturbating to them…but I wonder why they are being downloaded so much. Weirdness galore.
