Ordered way late in the preorder, thinking we would be far down in the delivery queue. We were fine with that, thinking delivery near Christmas, or even later. Nope. Seems we got in on the big debut delivery. Came yesterday. Spent today looking for an inexpensive cover because it really does need a case. Not a chance. So went with a decent leather case (rooCase) from Amazon. ---

Mind you, Fire is an color ebook reader with enhancements, as opposed to the iPad which is a computer, per se. We bought it as an ebook reader. That we can surf the web, play music, watch videos (movies and TV), play games, etc., makes it a great value compared to the iPad. At less than half the price of a basic iPad. Even brought up [ESPN3.com](http://ESPN3.com) and was able to watch Iowa State defeat Oklahoma State live. We had it on TV at the same time. Fire had it about four seconds ahead of the cable broadcast. Crystal clear with no latency. It turned out to be a miniature HDTV that rivals the real HDTV on in the background.
