I just thought of another: one. word. sentences. Sure, it’s done to emphasize how stabby it makes people (see what I did there? And that’s another–“I see what you did there,” but that’s not the point of this post), but like those…who…don’t…like…ellipses…used…in…writing…using one word per sentence is distracting, and irritating. The only good thing is it’s not used for a paragraph, and is usually very short, as in: “Best. Pizza. Evah!” But cut it out. ---

Actually, that reminds me of one. “Evah!” I don’t know why, it just bugs me. Does anybody even pronounce the word that way? Is this attempting to mock some particular pronunciation? I don’t care. Stop doing it. It bugs me. ---

The worst thing ever in the the history of stuff, is when a thread is on a particular topic and some weenies sole contribution is to “call” for somebody else to come answer the question. Generally, that bugs me, too, although I have to say there have been a few threads I’ve missed, and I found my way into them by doing a vanity search on my name and finding such a page. My only excuse is that I meant for my own post to be the sole example, so as not to name names. Then I figured I should just link to an example anyways, and didn’t think to unformat the post. Thought of another thing that pisses me off enormously… in threads about topics which involve some amount of “getting it”, (for instance “favorite vanity license plates” or “favorite math/physics jokes”), when people post the “it” without the explanation. Grrrr that makes me angry. Worst ever offense was when someone posted such a thing, I asked for an explanation, and they gave a coy half-clue which I didn’t freaking understand. ---

Is it worth even mentioning the “quote followed only by ‘+1’ or ‘this’ and nothing else” syndrome, or does it just go without saying that that shit should be a instantly bannable offense? ---

I am annoyed by gratuitous references to how wonderful a poster’s spouse, children, and/or pets are. I am annoyed by unnecessary abbreviating, especially in the context of a international, general interest website. Speaking as an American myself, there should be little reason to use U.S. state abbreviations, especially the atrocious two-letter postal abbreviations. References to a city by its airport code, an airline by its reservation code, a company by its stock ticker symbol, or a country by its top-level domain should earn an automatic boot to the head. Hell, a reference to an _airport_ by its airport code should usually get a poke in the eye. ---

I don’t see why. The airport is commonly known as “JFK.” The airport code is “JFK.” They coincidentally are the same. This is in contradistinction to, for example, La Guardia/LGA, O’Hare/ORD, Dulles/IAD, etc. I never said that people should be using the full, formal names of airports every single time. ---
