# Posting the leaked Hadley data and emails?

Does The Straight Dope have a policy on posting stuff from the leaked [Hadley CRU](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=540763) data?

Why would it be any different from the regular “fair use” practice, where you can quote a small portion and link to the source?

I would assume it has something to do with the fact that it is “leaked”, which implies that the copyright holders wanted the information to be private. I don’t know if this is a legal problem, but the SDMB seems to be more stringent than legally necessary when it comes to copyright. So it never hurts to ask.
