Most of the “safety” of being a pot-smoking driver comes from the fact that you tend to be overly cautious: i.e., after smoking enough to be slightly incapacitated, you drive more slowly and carefully, and after smoking enough to be greatly incapacitated, you don’t even get into the car. Pot doesn’t make you a better driver: it makes you a worse driver, \*but \*one who’s aware of how poorly you’re driving or would drive if you tried. ---

I don`t think you can compare the smell left on clothes from cigarettes to that left by pot… It is without a doubt much stronger… I worked a lot of charity bingo when I was younger and after a night of being in a bingo hall filled with smoke the scent left on my clothes (and hair) was noticeable even after I took of those clothes and would still be noticeable on the clothes until they were washed, I would be able to smell the cigarette scent on my clothes that were sitting in the laundry basket as soon as I walked in the room… Conversely I have never noticed the scent of pot on my clothes nor have any of the many people that would most definitely made issue of it if they detected it… I guess no one has to believe me but, IT IS THE RESIN LEFT ON YOUR FINGERS OR LIPS OR BREATH that reeks of pot, not your clothes… I learned early that all it takes to mask pot scent is washing your hands and mouthwash… granted maybe someone who has been part of an all night hotbox might have the scent on their clothes, but unless you grab them by the shirt and smelled the actual fabric, I would think that you are mistaken with thinking it is their clothes that stink… although I am not trying to say that pot leaves no scent on your clothes… but it is not that noticeable… ---

I still doubt that we’ll see it legalized within my lifetime, but we’re a lot closer than I expected us to be. ---
