Kettle style are too crunchy. They hurt my gums. Otherwise I’m not picky, so I chose “Regular Thin.”

When I was making the poll I put triangle in but then couldn’t think of any triangle chips that were made from potato, everything that comes to mind is corn. Are there any?

There are triangular potato chips?!?
I like the oddball flavors. I know the Canadians have a bunch. When I lived in VT I could get ketchup flavored. Sometimes I get dill pickle chips here.

All the thin ones just get chewed into gummy messes and stick in my molars. I like the kettle kind.
Specifically, if you’re planning on giving me a treat, the salt and pepper flavor. Almost every brand of salt and pepper kettle chips has been wonderful.
Of course, that means I eat way too many, like the whole bag at one sitting.

I like the thicker, kettle style best, but the regular thin ones will do nicely.
And I love potato chips. But one thing I absolutely cannot abide is flavored potato chips. No onion, no BBQ, no nohtin’. To me, those flavorings are just horrible. So bad, I won’t even eat them. I can’t for the life of me understand how anyone would like that crap.

I like all styles, but I happily default to regular thin cut. Ripple is fine, but generally not necessary (though preferable in plain chips that are accompanied by dip). Kettle chips have a nice crunch, but I generally avoid them for two reasons. Firstly, they tend to be significantly more expensive (in my experience), and IMO it’s not worth paying the premium. Secondly, the makers of kettle chips tend to want to get creative and fancy with the flavors; the result is usually not as enjoyable as any of the tried-and-true classic flavors. They even try to fancy-up the classic flavors like barbeque by using a different oil or somesuch, which throws off the rest of the recipe.

I like 'em ripple cut - they seem hardier. I don’t like the shape of Pringles - they don’t fit in my mouth any way, then they break all apart if I bite them.

The Lays kettle chips taste like maybe they use a different oil? Dunno, but they are distinctly different than other kettle chips.
My favorite are jalapeno flavored kettle chips. New York Deli brand of Krunchers brand when I can get them (once every few years).
When googling to try to remember what the Krunchers brand was called, I saw that Lays makes a jalapeno kettle chip, but I have never seen them in real life. Boston is not a great location for jalapeno flavored chips, it seems.

The only kettle chips worth eating are [Tim’s Cascade](http://www.timschips.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=ORPRO). Their selection varies, and they don’t currently seem to offer either the Dill Pickle or the Alderwood BBQ flavors. If you can find those, kill grandma to get them.

Hear, hear!
To me, the poll doesn’t capture the true essence of pursuing the perfect potato chip. I don’t like any flavored chip, but kettle, ripple, thin are all good, and I will buy any of them on occasion. (Well, the wavy ones never really appealed to me.) It’s more a matter of getting the perfect ratio of salt, potato, and oil. Classic thin-cut Lay’s are a little too salty. Ruffles are a bit too oily. Most of the kettle-cooked tend to have a few too many overcooked chips. Thick-cut, sea-salted Lay’s are pretty good. There are also Lay’s Stax, kind of their answer to Pringles, but a bit thicker/crunchier.
I have not found the perfect potato chip yet, and have probably looked a bit more than would be strictly good for me.

I rarely do chips, but I like veggie chips like the terra chips that is all the fun veggies. I like the white and purple ones, and the sweet potato ones best.
