So your contention, Rekd, is that when these regulations were unsettled and being debated, Obama cost the industry billions\*. And when they were settled, Obama wanted to poison our children\*\*. That about sum it up? Tell me, was there any possible way in the scenario you’ve set up that Obama could have done the right thing? \*[citation needed] \*\*[citation needed] ---

My contention was that Obama was allowing something that has (a now obviously remote) chance that a kid could get lead poisoning by allowing this bill to be killed. However, (and you guys are gonna kill me for this…) when you consider the broad brush the bill was created with and how idiotic it was for the Consumer Product Safety Commission to enact such a bill in the first place. It was thrown together in haste and caused a bunch of hyperbole and misinformation about the whole thing. The worst part is what would happen when kids couldn’t get youth ATVs and would likely be riding more dangerous adult sized ATVs. (Yes, suddenly eating an ATV doesn’t seem like such a bad thing) Injuries from youth ATVs are pretty high and the majority of them are from kids riding bigger ATVs and not wearing helmets. Had this bill passed it could have been very bad for kids who want to ride but cant get an appropriate sized quad. I’m really glad I brought this up here, it pushed me to consider other sides of the story I hadn’t heard and it actually changed my mind. Thanks for the lumps and lessons. 😃 ---
