Powdered alcohol

The basic pitch of the video was that powdered alcohol is fairly low-proof, requires a somewhat lengthy process to reconstitute, and is less convenient for smuggling than a flask. And also considerably more expensive per serving than existing drink. They did a pretty good job of showing that their product is probably pretty harmless. And also somewhat pointless. The only scenario it seems to be useful for is camping / hiking, simply because it can fit into a backpack easier than a bottle.

A problem which can readily be solved by putting your alcoholic beverages in a flexible container, like a hydration pack. Based on Ruken’s information, even if they’ve absorbed pure alcohol into the powder, it probably works out to exactly the same alcohol per unit of volume as liquid-form vodka, so there isn’t any real space gain.

I doubt this is really meant as a consumer product. A base for powdered cocktails, more likely.

Similar alcohol by weight. If this stuff is fluffy, it will take up more volume.

My state, which maintains a legal monopoly on the sale of distilled spirits, has just banned powdered alcohol. I take this to mean that the powdered form carries a lower profit margin.
