Power tool Question. More of a rant.

Well, yeah, I have heard of them, but ONLY as a big box house brand.

I was thinking that they might be more handyman-grade. I mean, they could be excellent tools for that purpose, like Craftsman are, but someone who is doing that much work might want to use something else. Makita of course I’ve heard of, and that makes my moot pointa moot one, if the offender wasn’t Ridgid.

Incidentally, I just saw a news item, and it turns out Ridge Tools made RIDGID. They just stopped and farmed the tool-making business overseas, to a company affiliated with TTI, makers of Ryobi. The subsidiary which will be making Ridgid also makes some tools for Craftsman. Ridgid will also be sold at more places, not just Home Depot. One note of concern: Ridgid is revising its warranty, from lifetime to a 90-day satisfaction guarantee and a 3-year limited warranty.

I couldn’t live without the lock on my orbital sander or my car buffer. But if I were using either of these tools improperly and caused myself injury, I am certain a band aid would suffice.

I have frequently had the vibration from my jig saw cause my hand to cramp, but would never want that tool locked on. (Unless my free hand was safely tied behind my back)
