I don’t want to be at work… I’m pretty sure I’m getting a cold; I’ve had a scratchy throat for the past couple days. Last night was gross. When dad fixed the toilet in my bathroom earlier this year, he didn’t caulk it back down because they’re going to replace it (eventually…). We apparently have an ant colony under the house because they were crawling out from the toilet into the trash can and then into my room (just a few in my room.) So I killed a bunch of them with Windex and wiped them up and Dad vacuumed up most of the rest and sprayed under the toilet with pesticide. The trashcan got emptied immediately and put outside for the remaining ants to decide to go elsewhere. We had ants crawling around a few months ago. Apparently they were coming up in my parents’ bathroom. I never saw enough to figure where they were coming from. On the other hand, having the ants was enough impetus for me to get my room picked up enough that I can now walk instead of stepping over things. There’s still a pile, but it’s organized. ---

**Taxi** , the first one will look better and be warmer, win win. Also, frozen pie crust is perfectly acceptable. **Shiny Cay** , you’re not ‘sposed to caulk the toilet down, although I’ve done that myself once or twice and don’t see where it hurts anything. However, if the wax ring isn’t stopping any insectile incursions you’re probably gonna have trouble with that toilet soon. I’m just sayin’. I’m sure there was more to say, but I forget. ---

I hate to do it. For a couple of bucks, I can get two perfectly good frozen crusts that only need to be filled, thereby freeing me to make a primo filling. Plus my kitchen doesn’t get tons of flour all over it. Still haven’t heard from daughter, so I’m going to make me some supper. She’s on her own! I’m a mean mommy. 🆒 ---

Yeah, I suppose that’s true. Or I could just refuse to make pies since I can make so many other goodies so much better. Have I mentioned the date bars I made on Sunday? They’re super yummy. And the panna cotta from last week? Ohhhhh, that was awesome. And KT goes crazy for my apple crisp - a perfectly suitable replacement for apple pie anyway. And chocolate molten babycakes. And brownies. I make damn good brownies. Who needs to be good at pie? ---

Things I’m not good at: making pie crust. I’ve made some good pie crusts in my life, but it’s been very hit or miss. I’ve had a running feud with my mail order pharmacy, and I have a happy ending to report. The mofos will think up any reason they can to fill a prescription, send it to you, and nail you for the charge. Right now I have enough insulin to get to the '11 Final Four because of this policy, and my American Express card got nailed for a cumulative $300 at a time I couldn’t afford to pay it off. So, I started refusing their shipments. They sent them back, and said, ‘Pay us anyway. They’re your drugs.’ No, I never ordered them. ‘Tough titty. They left our inventory, so fork over the dough.’ ‘Bite me,’ says I. I entered a fraud complaint with AMEX, and left a phony charge card number with the thieves for good measure, so any more bogus orders would not be paid for. AMEX said, ‘they have a charge slip, pay them.’ I blew up at AMEX, telling them that unless _I_ pulled the trigger on an order personally, the order is fraudulent. I told AMEX I still wasn’t paying. Today, I got a reply from AMEX that the thieving pharmacy was crediting me for the amount I disputed. Happy happy joy joy! ---

**Nava** , couth is just great. It’s what everybody wants! **Taxi** , I vote for the slinky dress too. In fact, can I get one over here? Busy times at work again, the new office is working out ok but it’s a pain in the behind having to keep going over to the other office for stuff. Yesterday there was chocolate in the office here but it was Hershey’s so I declined all the offers. Good job I bought some decent Belgian chocs back with me! I am off to London tomorrow for a friend’s birthday party so that should be a lot of fun. I am planning to be relatively sober for a change, it’s going to shock a lot of people. ---
