**Ode To A Yellow Legal Pad**

O giant yellow legal pad  
My love for you is not a fad.

My love for you will never taper -  
You’re so much finer than loose-leaf paper.

For loose-leaf’s holes will often tear  
But your firm staples stay right there.

Your extra length is what I crave  
If my desk caught fire, it’s you I’d save.

Your blue-lined surface, smooth and clean  
Delights me more than Ben Vereen

For even though he starred in “Pippin!”  
**Your** “Magic to Do” has me flippin’!

Notes trip lightly 'cross breadth so yellow  
I spill coffee on you, but you stay mellow.

That cardboard backing keeps you unwrinkled  
I’m so overwhelmed I almost tinkled.

A pox on those who might deride  
Your pages where my ink has dried!

For in these days of computerization,  
A yellow page is my salvation.

O giant yellow legal pad -  
It’s you who makes my workday glad.

Yellow legal pad.  
Far longer than this haiku  
And just the right size.

Canary yellow.  
White legal pads? Bite your tongue!  
Abomination!
