i don’t know how to pray, but i’ll keep thinking good thoughts about you two and maybe the good vibes will reach you across the ocean somehow… good luck
I am sorry to hear about your SO.
Try to keep her and your spirits up- think good thoughts.
As mentioned earlier, it can do wonders.
I had an accident I am not quite over yet myself and do
know how important it is to focus away from the frightening thoughts. I believe you will do all in your power to make her better- and noone can do more than that.
The best of luck to both of you.
Be strong.
Good vibes are headed your way. Best wishes for your S.O. and her health.
Oh Lou, I never know what to say in situations like this. I’m sorry that this has to happen. I just said a prayer for Nancy and you and I’ll continue to do so.

I hope the surgery goes well. Keep us posted, please.

pipefitter, you and I haven’t ever spoken, I don’t think. But if it IS fibroid tumors, then I can relate. My mother had some several years ago. So many, in fact, that it led to a hysterectomy. She is perfectly fine today. She just recently remarried, and took a month long honeymoon in Florida. These sorts of these are very scary. Medicine is all guesswork in a white coat. But I think she’ll be fine. After all, a huge part of recovery is WANTING to survive. And she wants to, if for no other reason than because she knows you care.
pipefitter - I’m not saying she shouldn’t have surgery. In fact, I think she should have surgery. And you haven’t even mentioned what type of surgery she is having.
She may be having a hysterectomy. If that is what she wants, great. But if she doesn’t want that, there are other options which are just as effective and have less of an impact on her health. Even if she wants to have a hysterectomy, she needs to be aware that the type of hysterectomy she is having can severly impact her health. If she has her ovaries removed as well, she will begin menopause.
I had “female problems” for 10 years. It got so bad that I was nearly fainting from climbing three steps to get into the building; I had to sit and rest at my desk before I could get my morning water. (We’re talking the distance of about 6 cubicles here) I was diagnosed last winter with fibroids and my doctor wanted to try BC pills, which hadn’t worked yet. I found out about Uterine Aterial Embolization, and asked my doctor about it. What she told me sounded suspicious, so I went to get a second opinion. What my doctor had told me was inaccurate. The second doctor was willing to recommend UAE, and I decided that that was the best option for me. I had the procedure done on a Tuesday. I was back at work the next Tuesday. I had regained almost all of my energy within a month, and my female problems are gone.
Like I said, surgery is the way to go. I just wanted to make sure that she was getting the surgery that is right for her. A doctor doesn’t have to be knife happy to think that hysterectomy is the only solution for fibroids.
I’m sorry I’m being rude by continuing to give unwanted advice. I just really, really want what is right for her, and sometimes it takes more than prayer.
The surgery is schedualed for the 6th of September, and it will be outpatient surgery at that. According to Nancy, that will be the first part of her surgery, she wouldn’t tell me any more right now, I’ll know more on Friday (she didn’t want to tell me much over the phone with her mom there (her mom doesn’t want me to know too much)). I’ll still keep all of you informed.
Zyada, I don’t think you are being rude, and I thank you for all of the information. The tumors are not in the uterus, but in one of her fallopian tubes, so most likely there won’t be a total hysterectomy. Like I said, I’ll most likely know more on Friday, so I’ll keep you informed. Thanks again Zyada, no hard feelings toward you.
Good luck to you and yours, pipefitter.
