What’s the opposite of appreciation? Because that’s what I recall. 😃

Same here. Abuse, hatred, contumely, stone-throwing, and general displeasure. I still look at that exercise as lots of fun, and can dismiss the negative feedback with ease. FWIW, it appears that I may have brought another thread to its knees (it was about charisma or something along those lines) by linking to a YouTube clip that had Omar’s arrival on the scene and how from that moment I knew he was going to be the key to the show. I still rank _The Wire_ in my Top Ten, but some other shows are competing with it for quality nowadays.

Here’s the batch so far, in the order they’ve appeared, including my post from **Mean Mr. Mustard** ’s [July Poll on the same basic topic](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=617729):

Fap-fap- fap
Google is your friend / Here, let me Google that for you.
Band name
Hi Opal
Let’s go to the quarry
In Soviet Russia…
…but thanks for playing.

Shodan

Welcoming overlords.

Ay! Throw them in the quarry now;
Long have they made us smile:
For Opal insists on a three-point list
Or a Death Ray of Twenties style.
Though overuse has sunk them down
Low as the Challenger Deep,
We were amused; penis ensued
And the snark gave us something to keep.
We celebrated simulposts
Where Diuran’s Rio gleams;
In truth we built this community
On a bunch of silly memes.

Let’s go to the quarry and throw stuff down there!
burning your dog

“JPEG!”

The Dio Show… oh wait nobody’s said that in ages

The phrase, “… makes me stabby.”

Gobsmacked
Words fail
I’ve a \<something\>… when written by an American.
Vibrant community

While we’re on annoying regionalisms, I still can’t get my head round the use of “any more” in the positive sense. “I eat a lot of tacos any more.” WTF.

I’ve got no dog in this fight.

It conjures up an image of Jed Clampett on the porch of a ramshackle cabin in the Appalachians, scratching his ass while trying to get ol’ Blue to wake up and chase away the revenooer.

I’m not really annoyed by this one, but I can’t bring myself to use the term “Dopers”. It reeks of “we’re so cool, we can call ourselves ‘dopers’, ha ha ha ha ha!” If I have to refer to other posers here, I use the phrase “Posters here”, or just “Posters”.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were no other Posters here who feel that way.

Does this imply you are including yourself among the posers?🙂

“I can’t believe this is post 47 and nobody has said X yet” (especially when somebody _did_ say X 25 posts ago)

Euphemisms for “troll” (e.g., “Don’t feed that dude. He lives under a bridge.”)

Random obscenities just because it’s the Pit (e.g., “Oh, this is the pit! Fuckety-fuck!”)

I was never under the impression that memes were supposed to be funny, at least, after their initial uses. They’re more of a way of identifying a community. And quite a few exist simply because they are an easy way to express a certain thought. In fact, the latter is usually my intention when using a meme.

Anyways, I’m glad that my use of the word “anyways” is not on the list. I think I use it in every other post, and always in the exact same way.
