With Eastwood and Wayne so much ahead of the others I’m wondering if one more elimination poll would help to clear things up as far as the “second tier” may be concerned.
I’ll propose that after we get to 50 Voters that we take the group that represents at least 10% of the votes (right now that would be through Walter Brennan) and limit votes on that group (minus Eastwood and Wayne) to three votes per voter.
Let’s discuss other options here in this thread and perhaps we can devise a way to include the real favorites in one final poll.

Much water has splashed over the dam since this thread was started 04-02-2015, 03:10 PM and it’s been since 05-04-2015 06:52 PM that this thread had been sitting idle.
But I wanted some input – from those who may be interested – on how to proceed with what we’ve been learning.
In another context (War Movies) where the response has been even more complicated, DinoR suggested a way to move the project forward. He said at this post (among other things )

I’m not sure of the total number of Westerns Stars mentioned or voted for in the various polls and threads but it would probably be a stretch to think we may have a reasonable 100 names. But the basic idea that DinoR outlined seems good to me.
Other ideas? Improvements?
Clint Eastwood and John Wayne are so far ahead of anybody else that there’s little doubt that either of them will outperform anybody in the Final Voting. But I do want to make it as fair as possible form the rest of the multitude of actors who have done Westerns as a large part of their careers.
What would work best to be fair in that sense?
Okay. I have counted the names that have been mentioned (and/or voted for) in one or more of the polls I have put up since April.
I’m thinking of four preliminary polls to reduce the number of reasonable candidates by having the top 14 in each poll move on to a second round of voting. In each of the preliminary polls each voter can choose up to 10 names.
