"Preacher" as athiest propoganda? <spoilers>

To me, your response seemed to indicate that comics aren’t an appropriate vehicle for message literature, and that is absurd. If, as it appears, you meant something else, then the  wasn’t directed at you. (That’s why I qualified it with the “if so”).

Bolding mine.
You did it again!

Silentgoldfish, perhaps your friend would benefit from looking up the word Atheist in a dictionary. An atheist doesn’t believe in existence of a god or gods. Atheists don’t say such beings aren’t worthy of respect, they say they don’t exist at all. (I suppose the definition doesn’t specifically exclude belief in angels or demons or other such supernatural folk, but I have yet to meet a self-identified atheist who does). The series does portray organized religion in a very negative light, but that’s not the same thing as denying the existence of supernatural beings altogether. I know quite a few theists who firmly believe god(s) exist, but dislike organized religion just as much as any atheist of my acquaintance.

Thanks for your input all! He’s decided the series is too offensive to talk about, which I guess means it hits its mark :).

But an interesting thread for me, anyway. And apologies for the really poor spelling in the OP. It was late and I was tired!
