[/quote] Thing is, the real “shocking” (by the rather flimsy standard of American TV of course) aspect of Preacher isn’t so much God getting gunned down in the end, which is the only way it _could_ have ended really ; but rather that he’s a coward and an utter cunt throughout the plot. I mean, his very first appearance involves allying with a demented family of degenerate monsters ; making them to _kill Tulip_ just as a means to threaten Jesse whom he’s too afraid to be in the same room with ; then fucking off with his tail between his legs and his human agents burning, which he doesn’t seem to give two shits about. It’s consistent with Old Testament god of course, but you can see how the [del]Screeching[/del]Religious Right might take issue with the characterization ;). ---

That humans and angels were messing up while He was actually dealing with, oh, keeping the universe going or something. Once he’s revealed on stage, he’s nasty enough that it’s natural to root for him being blown away. It’s the big reveal that he’s a cunt that I’ll believe stays in the script when I see it. ---

[Evan Goldberg talking a little bit about the plan for “Preacher.”](http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/31186/evan-goldberg-talks-preacher-series) I get that they want it to be a faithful (ha!) adaptation, but I do agree with those who feel that things will have to be WAY watered down for AMC. Then again, I haven’t seen much on AMC lately; how much do they get away with? I know that TV series on SyFy, for example, have a fair amount of swearing, lots of naked butts, and the occasional sideboob, as well as unambiguous depictions of various sexual acts; is AMC in the same general ballpark as far as that goes? ---

Sponsorship may well be a real concern for this show. The outcry and backlash will be significant. ---
