I’m thinking uniforms.

The entire gamut from faux military, to coveralls, to naughty schoolgirls and cheerleaders.

Definitely 80’s inspired fashion.

Pegged leg jeans are coming back. Seven jeans now has a pegged leg version.

Military inspired pants with hints of the old parachute pants are out now that really blend that fatigue/parachute pant look quite nicely.

According to all the Science Fiction we read/watched as youngsters it’s about time for the silver jumpsuits and capes if you ask me!
And maybe some sort of headgear with a fin on it (possibly for aerodynamics?)

Asymmetrical hair, including eyebrows; and for men, asymmetrical facial hair.

Beyond tatoos and piercing: cutting and amputations.

Exposed nipples and pubic hair.

Special effects cosmetic surgery (forked tongues are just the beginning)

Clothes that make you look fatter.

Nothing wrong with that. Personally, a well turned out guy in blue overalls a la **1984** (the movie) might be just what we need. And as for a well turned out lady in a naughty schoolgirl outfit, I see that now, and I am not complaining. I don’t think the military uniform thing will fly, though. At least not now, in our culture that worships all things military. Give us a stretch of fifty or so years without a war, and maybe we’ll see the children wearing faux military uniforms.

As far as non-casual dress, I predict that men will wear a shirt, coat/suit and tie(for another 150 years).

Cultural osmosis: some sub-culture will adopt a look, and people outside the sub-culture will pick up on it. Eventually, designers will notice the trend (it’s their job to, after all) and start filling the stores with that look at twice the price. Sometimes the fashion will be associated with a celebrity, which helps the whole thing along a bit (eg. J-Lo with tracky-dax).

I think someone will shortly figure out how to make any conceivable weapon from the metals that go into zippers and bluejean rivets. The airport security checkpoints will be enhanced accordingly so they they detect ALL kinds of metal, including zippers and rivets.

As a result, we’ll have to start wearing special jumpsuits for air travel; people who travel a lot will own several and and it will become quite a fashion item. Celebrities will appear on late-night talk shows wearing them. If you show up at the airport without your jumpsuit then you’ll be forced to wear awful-looking ones that they’ll have on hand and rent out exorbitant prices.

**Loincloths for women** - it’s about the only way women’s clothing can get skimpier without changing the indecent exposure laws.

**Burnooses for men** - it’s about the only way men’s clothing can get baggier without becoming hazardous on windy days.

For some reason, I see neckties as well. They’re cute, pseudo-professional-looking, and quite fun to untie. 😉

I see the classic polo going out, in favor of the oxford.

In addition, I think that darker, cool and neutral colors (hunter green, burgundy, dark brown, navy, etc) will become more pronounced, to the exclusion of black. Tweed will come back, being the forefront of a return to older style.

Oh, and JNCOs will be back. JNCOs, baby!

(One of those was sarcastic. Guess which one!)

Men’s hats…I like those broad-brimmed fedoras from the 1940’s…cool! I also want to see:
-vests
-double-breated suits
-wide ties
-spats (ultra-cool!)
I’d also like to see women wearing those fur collars on coats, which included mink heads (the jaws formed clasps)!
