> The story is about what he said and he clearly stated he would bankrupt coal producing plants. The fact that you’re just now hearing about it is directly related to a newspaper who neglected to write about it. The fact stands that he said what he said. Bankrupting a whole industry is BIG NEWS. Raising the price of electricity is BIG NEWS. The coal states are just now being made aware of it so don’t hand me a bunch of crap that it was available the whole time like that somehow negates the actual message. It’s no small journalistic lapse that was not reported on.

Big news: you got taken for a ride.

> “So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted,” he said. In the same interview, the senator said that “if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.”

So he is saying that if they do manage to limit greenhouse emissions then that will be fine.

To me it is clear that that position is not different from McCain, as he mentioned in his site. “we need to commit significant federal resources to the science, research and development that advance this critical technology. Once commercialized, the U.S. can then export these technologies to countries like China that are committed to using their coal - creating new American jobs and allowing the U.S. to play a greater role in the international green economy.”

In other words, as he is supporting also a Cap-And-Trade System this means Coal has a problem if no new technologies appear under both Obama and McCain. It seems to me then that that was the reason the newspaper did not focus on those remarks, but it is insulting to ones intelligence to say this was hidden.

> Cap-and-trade will happen because of a group you might not know about: U.S. Climate Action Partnership (US-CAP), a partnership of 27 major corporations and six leading environmental organizations that is pushing the global-warming solutions agenda forward. The group includes several Fortune 500 companies, including General Electric.
>
> Yes, the very businesses that would be regulated by a cap-and-trade system are pushing it forward because, Belcher said, they figure “if we don’t push it, someone else will.”
>
> Put another way, Belcher said, these companies are saying, “‘Climate change is here whether I believe in it or not, and I just want to know what the rules are.’” (Or they want to have a hand in writing those rules).
>
> Perhaps surprisingly, top businesses are at the forefront of adopting a cap-and-trade system, or at least making sure it’s a system they can live with (no word on how such a system would affect smaller businesses). Washington state is no exception, and businesses here should take note that the state is part of the Western Regional Climate Initiative (WRCI), a collaboration among the governors of Washington, Oregon, California, New Mexico and Arizona. The WRCI’s focus includes developing a regional cap-and-trade system.
>
> So, if the feds don’t move first, Washington state, along with these other states, will. In any case, whoever wins the White House - Barack Obama or John McCain - will pursue some form of cap-and-trade legislation. Both candidates also essentially support electrifying the transportation grid to wean the country off foreign oil, according to Brian Wynne, president of the Electric Drive Transportation Alliance. “No matter how the election turns out we will have an ally in the White House,” he said Friday.

> Sure it is. I’m for full gay rights, as well, minus the “marriage” label. But if Prop 8 is defeated you’ll see more of this type of nonsense. Some of it rogue, like this. And some sanctioned by the schools. Nope, what started out as a gay rights issue—hospital visitation, inheritance, medical benefits, etc.—has turned into a pure ideological battle they want to now shove down the throats of even little kids. It’s indoctrination at any expense. I’m with them on the rights issues, but beyond that they can all go to hell.

It seems to me that even if gay marriage was legal the action of the teacher would also run afoul of other rules. In other words, do you really believe that if gay marriage was legal that this teacher would not be in trouble?

Tell me another fairy tale.

The former might be punished under either system, but is less likely to within a system where it might be very similar to school sanctioned nuttery.

End of hijack.

_ **Predict the wingnuttery to come** _

Too late it’s already here:

From the comments on the report of Obama’s Grandmother’s Death:

_I’ll bet you anything Obama will say her last wish was for her body to be burned as soon as possible. That way, there can be no autopsy to reveal the true time of death, or the real reason she died._

_I am sorry to hear of her death…IF she really died. This guy is such a liar, it is possible that this is a fake story, last minute sympathy and such. I say this because it is awful odd that she passed just hours before the polls open._

_Ahh…what a coincidence. His grandmother dies ONE DAY before the election. This is Obama’s way of getting the sympathy vote. My husband even predicted this would happen and he was right._

So, in other words, you are supporting the notion of the state restricting these individual’s right to use a term of speech?

Piffle, once the media focus on it, there is no end to the grief that teacher will get, there is no way this will be pulled again…

..or this was indeed a valid exercise and it will be the ones pushing this protest and Fox news that need to shove it.

I didn’t say it was hidden, I said it wasn’t reported on. And you’ll have to cite that McCain said he would carbon tax coal power plants into bankruptcy. What Obama said was that he would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive or more aggressive than anybody else’s out there. He said he was the first person to call for a 100 percent offset.

WHOO-HOO! Let’s knock down these worship
houses and build schools, hospitals… or leave Em
as parking lots. They’re just as important. 🙂
